The fibularis brevis muscle of the leg

The fibularis brevis muscle is deeper and shorter than the fibularis longus. It originates from the inferolateral surface of the fibular shaft and forms a tendon that descends into the foot with the fibularis longus. The tendon travels posteriorly to the lateral malleolus, passing over the calcaneus and cuboidal bones before attaching to a tubercle on the fifth metatarsal. The actions of the fibularis brevis include eversion of the foot.
